Who we are
This site belongs to Coalition for Geoengineering Research, a non-profit research and education organization based in Pasco, WA 99301. You can reach us by email at contact@coalitionforgeoengineeringresearch.com or by phone at (509) 551-8777.
What we collect
The contact form
Our contact form asks for four things: your name, your email address, a subject line, and your message. The message box is free text, so it holds whatever you decide to write in it. We do not ask for your phone number, your address, or your date of birth.
The form also has one hidden box that you will never see. Only automated spam programs fill it in. If it comes back filled in, we drop the message. It does not watch how you type, move your mouse, or behave on the page, and it does not score you.
Online donations
If you give online, you do it on our payment processor’s checkout page, not on this site. The processor passes us a record of the gift: typically your name, email address, billing details, the amount, and your card type and last four digits. We never see your full card number.
Information we may receive about your health
Some pages on this site invite you to tell us what you have been seeing in your community, including health observations. Anything you choose to write in the message box comes to us. Because we are based in Washington, that kind of information has its own rules and its own policy. Please read our Consumer Health Data Policy, which covers it in full.
You are never required to send us health information. If you would rather not put it in writing, call us instead.
Server logs
Our web host keeps ordinary server records when a page loads. These normally include an IP address, the browser and device type, which page was requested, and the time. Every website has these. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
The video on our home page
Our home page includes a video published by a federal agency. The video is embedded from a third party video platform. That platform receives your IP address and basic browser information as soon as the home page loads, before you press play and whether or not you ever press play. This is worth knowing, so we are telling you plainly. No other page on this site loads anything from a third party.
What we do not do
A lot of privacy policies list practices the business does not actually have. Here is what this site genuinely does not do. We checked the site in a browser to confirm each one.
- We run no analytics. There is no measurement tag, no visitor counter, and no session recording of any kind.
- We run no advertising and no ad tracking. There is no ad pixel on this site, and nothing here changes what ads you see elsewhere.
- This site sets no cookies of its own, and it saves nothing in your browser storage.
- There are no user accounts and no logins.
- We take no payments on this site itself. There is no checkout and no card form here. Our Donate buttons take you to a checkout page run by our payment processor, described below. You can also give by email, phone, or mail.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we never have.
Who receives your information
Four kinds of companies can see information from this site. We describe them by what they do rather than by name.
- A form delivery service. When you press send, your name, email, subject, and message pass through a service that delivers the message to our inbox.
- Our web host. It serves the pages and keeps the server records described above.
- A third party video platform. It receives your IP address and browser information when our home page loads, as described above.
- A payment processor. Only if you press a Donate button and give online. It handles your payment and passes us the record of your gift described above, so we can thank you and send a receipt. Its own privacy policy covers everything you enter on its page.
That is the whole list. We may also share information if the law requires it, which has not happened.
This site links out to many outside sources, agencies, and journals. Those are links you choose to click. Once you click one you have left our site, and the other site’s privacy policy takes over. They are not receiving anything from us.
How long we keep it
Your message arrives as an email and stays in our inbox. We do not have a fixed deletion schedule, and we would rather say so than invent one. If you want your message deleted, email us and we will delete it.
Records of online gifts are kept for as long as we need them for our tax and non-profit records.
How we protect it
We want to be straight with you. We are a small organization and we do not have a formal information security program. Your message arrives in an ordinary email inbox and is read by members of the Coalition team. Please do not send us anything you would not want sitting in an email.
Your choices
You can ask us to do any of the following, at any time, for free.
- Tell you what information about you we hold.
- Send you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it.
Email contact@coalitionforgeoengineeringresearch.com and say what you want. We will reply. We may ask you to confirm the email address you originally wrote from, so we do not hand your message to someone else.
Opting out of ad targeting
There is nothing here to opt out of. We do not run advertising or personalization on this site, so no ad profile is being built from your visit. The only third party that sees you is the video platform on our home page. If you want to limit what it can store, you can block third party cookies in your browser settings. You can also skip the home page and go straight to any other page, which loads nothing from anyone else.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. There is no archive of older versions, so the date is how you can tell.
